Pep Talk Time!
I was thinking of asking a few ladies if they'd want to attend a class where I help them with their make-up. I'd bring my supplies and tell them to bring everything they have. Then I'd follow with tips and tricks to allow them to have an easier time with their make-up. But then I got to wondering why they wouldn't have tried experimenting with make-up themselves. Here's my theory.
We as women are constantly comparing ourselves. Our lives, kids, husbands, and ourselves. Including our make-up and make-up skills. The only reason I feel comfortable in my make-up abilities, which really aren't that great, is I looked up videos and figured it out. But before I had, I'd try something new with my make-up and be so self conscious. When I first tried contouring I had a sister-in-law's mom rub off my contour and say "Oh Whitney, don't do that! You look like you have dirt on your face!" I was horrified! I immediately went into a bathroom holding back tears and wiped off the contour I had, just a few minutes ago, felt so proud of!
I learned from that experience. For one, I learned that that lady is just plain rude. But I also learned that everyone has an opinion about make-up. Some will say that make-up is like clown paint and others will say make-up is an art form. Another thing I learned was that I needed to be confident in myself even if others are saying otherwise. I've gotten to the point that when I have my make-up on, I don't let negative thoughts enter my head. I then developed this moto for myself: If I feel good, I look good. Why? Because confidence is an attractive quality.
So to you ladies out there that feel uncomfortable in your own skin. To you ladies that are constantly comparing yourself to others. STOP IT! Don't do that! Why do we have this image in our head of what beauty should look like? If you're overweight, why does that have to mean you're fat? I'm overweight, I have no problem admitting that! Because it doesn't mean I'm fat and it doesn't mean I'm not beautiful! You need to be comfortable in your own skin! The minute you notice those thoughts coming in you NEED to stop those thoughts. They will only led you to be miserable. But if you are truly not happy with yourself, do something! Don't let anything stop you!
But believe me when I say, you are beautiful! Your smile is beautiful! You are perfectly you! The "perfect" women we see in pictures, have insecurities too! To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised is all those photos we see are really altered on Photoshop! Don't let anyone drag you down! You are amazing. The only thing you need to remember is: If I feel good, I look good. Wake up everyday and ask yourself "Do I feel good?" if that is a yes, then you look good! Be kind to yourself.
