What to be most grateful for
If I ever decide to make this blog public then you guys will be getting lots of random thoughts that will mean nothing to you. I am so thankful today. Actually I've been thankful for this particular thing for awhile. What matters most? What makes everyone the most happy? And why does it make us so happy and grateful for life?
Family will always be the most important thing in life, besides the gospel of Jesus Christ. Family is the a huge part of what makes life meaningful. Family is something we all look for. If anyone tries to say they don't crave and desire it, are kidding themselves. We dream of a perfect Christmas or Thanksgiving with a loving family. Laughing and just enjoying each others company. Family is always going to be the american dream. The dream in general.
Now. Let me tell you a little bit about my family. My maiden name is Stockton. The Stockton family is the best family there is to be apart of. I may be completely biased but I think it's pretty dang accurate lol. My parents are Suzann and Glenn. My mom's parents are Beverly and Francois Melaerts. My mom grew up in Vegas, and had 5 siblings. My dad's parents are Linda and Theodore Stockton. He grew up in California and moved to Vegas in his senior year. My dad served his mission in New Zealand and is convinced that when Brigham Young pointed to Salt Lake as to where Zion should be established, that he was really pointing to New Zealand lol. When he got home he met my mom at a single's ward activity in the mountains. He pursued her regardless of her being a little shy. He says that she never said she didn't like him so he kept going after her! They met in October, I believe. They were married in May.
They had 7 kids mostly in Vegas. My brother Glenn is the oldest and he is 30 years old. Then there's Spencer and he is 29, I think...lol. Then David is 27 years old. My sister Emily is 26 years old. AnnMarie is about to turn 23. Then there's me! I'm 21 years old. Then the one who completed us, Holly. She is 14 years old. All of my siblings were born and raised here in Vegas. I was born in California and raised here. I loooooove my family!
Glenn has 2 kids, Addison and Caleb. He is married to an awesome woman named Elaina! She is seriously so great. Very loving and friendly. Spencer is married to Julia and she is pregnant and due in February to a little baby boy. I don't know what they are naming their son, but they are going to be amazing parents. Julia is great because we've all known her since she was 15 years old. She went to high school with me as a foreign exchange student, so we have a lot of good memories together. David is literally the coolest. I'm serious. David recently graduated in the beginning of this year from BYU-Idaho. He now works for the FBI! Like he really does. He is in training now! Emily is married to Hector and has a baby named Camilia. Camilia is soooooo cute! AnnMarie is married to Matthew and has a toddler named Audrey. Audrey is such a hoot! She is just such a delight to be around. I frequently ask AnnMarie if I can come over to play with Audrey when I'm feeling down. I am married to Garrett and am pregnant with Hudson LeRoy Hawk who is due in April! Ooooooh we are so excited to meet Hudson! Holly is in 9th grade and is growing up way too fast. She is super beautiful and extremely smart!
Lately I've just been so grateful for the family I was given. My mom brings me so much happiness just by being around her. She lets us go over to her house all the time to hang out. She always plays games or just sits and jokes around with us. She's really good at making people laugh and feel comfortable. My dad is always so willing to give service. He will drop anything for you. He is so happy that being around him just brings you peace. My siblings are always there for each other and I love being around them. They're always laughing when we're together. I wish everyone could see us and have what we have.
But most of all, I'm so grateful for my husband. Garrett is the light of my life. He is all that matters to me. He has given me so much happiness and peace. He works full-time and goes to school to become a mechanic. He has let me live my dream of staying home. He is always serving me and showing his love for me. He loves cuddling and giggling with me. I love him with all my heart. I would give everything to make him happy. We aren't perfect. But we try to improve everyday. And even through the hard times, we keep our love for each other strong.
So that is my family. That is my pride and joy. That is what makes me most happy. I love being around them. And I love being apart of them. My son will be so blessed to have them be there for him. I love being around my niece's and nephew. But to know my son will see their aunt's and uncle's all the time and see them as examples and friends, brings tears to my eyes.
